The annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse is one of the plateau’s most anticipated fundraising events of the year–and it is once again time for some of the region’s most sought-after designers to transform a brand new home, this year built by esteemed custom home builder Loudermilk Homes of Atlanta and Cashiers.

With over 20 years of experience in design, Eric Ross knows how to evoke the story a home is trying to tell. By marrying traditional design with the needs of a modern-day world, his work is showcased in homes throughout the Southeast and beyond.
“I love working with clients and developing a friendship with each one. As we get more familiar with each other and trust is built, the decorating becomes a true representation of the client and their personalities,” says Ross.

A love for interior design blossomed in Courtney Moss as a child while shopping for antiques with her mother. As a professional interior designer, she still loves to lean on those traditional elements but wows clients with a pop of something eclectic.
“I feel very honored to be included amongst so many talented designers. It has been so fun to be part of a beautiful home being built by Loudermilk and to bring my touches to the space. Sourcing special antiques and fabrics to pull it all together has been the icing on the cake,” says Moss.

Courtney Brown has over 20 years of experience in residential interior design. Headquartered in Charleston, SC, Courtney draws inspiration from the city’s historic architecture. She infuses antiques and art into current-day design by balancing the mix of past and present to curate a comfortable but interesting space. She crafted her interior design color palette from the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
“We take a painterly approach to design. We pull a color of interest outside the home, inside, and build on that color with light, form and texture. What makes a good design a great design (or a good painting a great one) is something unexpected. For each project and client, the creative process of pushing the boundary is an art form that is achieved only by relationship and trust,” says Brown.

Yancey Shearouse grew up in one of the South’s most well-preserved antebellum towns in Mississippi, instilling in her an early passion for design. Known for her hand-drawn renderings at initial meetings, Yancey is adept at envisioning a space's potential and bringing it to life.
“Being part of the Cashiers Historical Society Designer Showhouse is an incredible honor. It’s a privilege to collaborate with such a talented group of creatives while celebrating the rich heritage and natural beauty of this mountain community. There’s a unique energy here—every room tells a story, and it’s thrilling to contribute to something so inspiring and meaningful,” says Shearouse.

Inspired by two talented women in her life–her mother and aunt–Louise Hane’s approach to design centers on the belief that a space should tell the stories of her clients’ present and past. Louise has been curating harmonious sanctuaries across the region since 2005.
“I honor adding antiques and original art that are personal to my client to recreate spaces that feel storied, soulful, and collected over time,” says Hane.

Caroline Brackett started her design journey over two decades ago. Whether she’s transforming existing spaces or helping craft the interior of a custom-built home, Caroline’s clients are delighted with her thoughtful approach and ability to balance beauty with functionality.
“It's truly an honor to participate in this year's Showhouse. Our team is incredibly excited to reveal a design that we believe beautifully elevates the home’s architectural integrity and seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. We look forward to connecting with the visitors and hope our space sparks inspiration,” says Brackett.
J. Banks Design, Hilton Head, SC

“Returning to my home state of North Carolina to celebrate the interior design industry is always a joy—but designing a showhouse in Cashiers, where my family still lives, makes it especially meaningful. The region’s rich and varied architectural landscape offers an exciting creative challenge and a chance to showcase a wide spectrum of design aesthetics that reflect each home’s unique spirit. I love pushing past the expected, especially when it comes to reimagining what a mountain home can be. Last year’s house leaned into tradition, so I took a bold and deliberately less traditional route. This year, we’re starting with a modern foundation, which has inspired a quieter approach that favors rich textures over bold statements. No matter the style, my goal is always the same: to bring a fresh perspective to every space I touch,” says Kowalski.

We love seeing familiar faces and catching up with our fellow designers and vendors throughout the week.
