Looking to fill your social calendar?

We’ve got the rundown on what to do and explore.

Peace, Love and Laurent-Perrier

July 30

It’s Vegas, baby, as the Swinging Sixties take over The Farm at Old Edwards! Celebrate the "Cultural Decade," when rules were broken, skirt hems climbed higher, hair grew longer, flower power ruled and Sammy Davis, Frank Sinatra and Dean Marin crooned on radios and records. America was embracing swagger, free love, legalized gambling in Las Vegas, folksy music, and a departure from social norms.

As a toast to this spirited era, Chef Chris Huerta of Madison's Restaurant and Camille Cox, Vice President Champagne Laurent-Perrier, will present a fun 1960's-themed Rat Pack dinner party at The Farm at Old Edwards. DJ Yvonne Monet will set the tone with a playlist of everyone's faves from the generation of love. Bubbles from large-format bottles and hors d'oeuvres in The Orchard will welcome guests. Dinner follows in The Farm Pavilion. Fill your glass at the Champagne fountain, and marvel at the pink and white ice sculptures. And, in an exclusive appearance, BUBBLES THE CAR, a 1963 Citroen will provide the perfect centerpiece for all guest photo opps. 5:30 pm Cocktails, 6:30 pm Dinner; $165 per person including Champagne throughout the evening. Exclusive of taxes and gratuities.
Limited seating. Call (828) 787-2635 to book. www.oldedwardshospitality.com/calendar-of-events/champagnedinner

Into The Woods

July 11 - 12

The Smoky Mountain Center For The Performing Arts presents, Into The Woods. This Tony Award-Winning musical comedy follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a secret in his family’s past, the two set off on a journey to find a resolution. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous and hilarious results. Thus, what begins a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility, the stories we tell our children and sometimes the things we most wish for are not always what will result in happily ever after. Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim; Book by James Lapine. A two-act production.
