Groovin’ on The Green

August 2, 16, 30 and September 6

Music fills the air in The Village Green, no matter the season! Groovin’ on The Green remains a vibrant, FREE summer concert series, offering unforgettable musical experiences for the community! Rain or shine, the concerts kick off at 6 pm on The Village Green Commons Lawn. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets, and pack your picnic baskets and coolers. Four-legged friends are welcome to join the fun – as long as they remain leashed! Local food and beverage options will be available at every concert this year, offering various dinner options! The Village Green will continue offering the opportunity to rent group tents. Catch Me if You Can

August 1- 4 and August 7-10

This high-flying musical comedy is based on the unbelievable true story of one of the most famous con artists in history, Frank Abagnale Jr., and the hit film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Catch Me If You Can is a rousing musical set during the jet-set age of the 1960s. Sapphire Valley Arts & Crafts Show

Cashiers 46th Annual Antiques Show

August 9 – 11

Cashiers 46th Annual Antique Show features furniture from every period and style and the finest antique jewelry, bronzes, sporting ephemera, Asian antiquities and linens. The show also offers exquisite porcelain, fine silver, elegant cut glass, enchanting paintings and fine prints. High Falls Dam Release at Lake Glenville

August 10 & 24

As the dam releases whitewater into the west fork of the Tuckasegee River, witness a transformation of the serene High Falls into a formidable force, creating class IV rapids over a 5.5-mile stretch. This rare event is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Duke Energy releases these flows to comply with license requirements and neither encourages nor discourages the public's recreational use of high flows. Visitors are advised to stay out of the water and enjoy the spectacle from a safe distance, Trailhead at 1965 Pine Creek Rd, Cullowhee, 28723 

Chi-Town Transit Authority

August 15

Chi-Town Transit Authority is an 8-piece Chicago Tribute band based in Atlanta.

Established in 2017, it is dedicated to reproducing the “Chicago” Concert experience. The Village Nature Series

August 20 and September 24

The Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and The Village Green invite you to Lewis Hall at The Village Green at 5:30 pm. Visitors and residents will learn about wildlife, habitats, conservation and local cultural heritage from expert speakers in their fields. August and September’s lectures are “George Masa’s Wild Vision” and “Pollinator Habitat Conservation of Western North Carolina,” 160 Frank Allen Road, Cashiers.

Orchard Sessions at the Farm

August 15 – December 12

Open to the public for the first time this year, a live concert series at The Farm at Old Edwards. A small cover charge includes comfortable seating, light bites and cash bar. Matt Rogers plays on August 15. He is a critically acclaimed country performer from Georgia now making a name for himself in Nashville. On September 12, Martin & Kelly appear. Their fresh crossover country music blends traditional and new country for a unique sound.  October 10 brings Erick Baker, an Emmy Award-winning writer, TV host and singer-songwriter. Baker has toured with John Legend, Brandi Carlile, Hart and more.  Shows are from 6 pm – 8 pm, rain or shine. In inclement weather, the show will be moved to The Orchard House. 2024 Cashiers Designer Showhouse

August 23 – 31

The Cashiers Historical Society’s annual fundraising week includes tours and events. Shuttles to the Designer Showhouse every 15 minutes daily at The Village Green. Shopping at Lewis Hall during shuttle hours with local artists and craftspeople offering home goods, apparel and artwork. Events throughout the week, both free and ticketed, are now available. SEPTEMBER

Mountain Music Festival

September 6 – 7

An annual event since 2006, get ready for a rollicking blend of up-and-coming talent and nationally known acts. On Friday, September 6, the gates open at 3 pm and The Steep Canyon Rangers take the stage at 5:30.  They are followed by Shannon Whitworth and Woody Platt, who are followed by the headliner for the evening, the red-hot Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. On Saturday, September 7th, the gates open at noon, with Hank, Pattie, & The Current taking the stage at 2 pm.  The Trey Wellington Band follows them, then Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley.  Later that evening, Zack Top takes the stage, an artist Woody Platt thinks is destined to be a star. After Zack Top concludes, The Steep Canyon Rangers, the host band for the event, closes out the festival with a two-hour concert. For tickets, visit www.mountainsongfestival.com. Dazzling Dahlia Festival

September 5-7

Juried show for Single Bloom entries on display at the Bascom on September 6 from 1:30 to 4 pm. Doors open again on September 7 from 10 am to 4 pm. A more expansive outdoor walking festival with a map features floral vignettes exhibited throughout town. These displays also compete for awards. On Saturday evening, a free concert at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park with Steel Toe Stiletto is from 6 pm to 9 pm. Awards will be announced at the show. End of the Line – An Allman Brothers Tribute Band

End of the Line, with endorsements from the official Allman Brothers Museum and The Big House, is the premiere Allman Brothers tribute band, carrying on the brothers' legacy with poise and power. Highlands Porchfest

Celebrating its fourth year, Highlands Porchfest returns on September 15th. It is a unique and delightful Sunday afternoon of strolling the town and enjoying live music in front of local businesses.
